Abstract:

Results regarding reconstruction and modifications of multiscale (wavelet) maxima and zero-crossings representations are presented. The work is based on a general signal description, called an inherently bounded Adaptive Quasi Linear Representation (AQLR), motivated by two important examples: the wavelet zero-crossings representation. The convergence of two new reconstruction algorithms is guaranteed for all inherently bounded AQLR. As a consequence, we describe modifications in the basic multiscale maxima representation. The modifications allow to trade-off between the amount of required information and the reconstruction quality.
